Wow, it seems as if Q1 has flown like one month. Sounds familiar? We have started a couple of highly innovative projects that will hit the market this summer and next year (teaser). But let’s get back to the news selected by the é team in March.
The most unexpected collaboration that Kotryna has seen recently is e.l.f. x Chipotle. Although they seem to be from different universes, brands’ spokespersons find that they share the same spirit and target Gen Z. Burrito-themed eyeshadows or a hot sauce-inspired lip gloss — all you need to make up the pandemic boredom. Yummy!
Artūras keeps discovering the most colourful works. So last month, his attention was drawn by candy-shaped supplements infused with vitamins, minerals and superfoods. He believes that such a vibrant design will push anyone to be healthier and put them in Welly mood.
Japan is at it again! Beatričė has shared a story in which professional balloon artist Masayoshi Matsumoto talks about creating realistic animal models. Some of the works are sooo delicate and small that it’s hard to believe you can physically fold it that way!
Edvardas has discovered some brief insights about global food brands’ missteps in expanding their range with vegan options. And on the shelves, the resulting packaging sometimes looks more like an inferior choice or, as in the KitKat example... like a rain-forest flavour.
Kotryna keeps a close eye on hygiene trends evolving during the pandemic. The latest innovation in that area is Urban Sun, inspired by the UVC light ability to sanitise viruses safely. This work by Studio Roosegaarde looks wonderful and gives hope of gathering in public places safely.
It seems that the BLM movement has had to teach people to be better. Still, Jolita has pointed to the Asian Lives Matter initiative’s rise, following a racially motivated crime towards the Asian community.
Phygital is a merge of physical and digital worlds increasingly seen in recent marketing campaigns. Kotryna has shared Pizza Hut x Pac-Man’s collaboration: QR code on the box leads to AR that turns the box into a gaming board. If you wondered when the phygital packaging project would be released in Lithuania — our answer is — coming soooon!
NOS design studio has introduced the highly aesthetic Everloop toothbrush made of recycled plastic and replaceable bamboo bristles. While replaceable heads are not a big deal anymore, Beatričė pointed out that this concept is one step further toward zero. Still, some of us weren’t sure about the rough-looking bristles.
It’s Nice That has unveiled a yearly line-up of creative talents: Ones to watch 2021. A must-see and read for anyone working in the creative industry! And Jolita notes that her fave lettering artist and illustrator is Leandro Assis, as he worked with RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Finally, we broke our “the ending rule” (cause we can once) – usually, we admire industry colleagues outside the agency. This time, appreciation flies to our own design strategist Kotryna. In the latest ADC*Talks episode, she explores the differences between Burger King vs McDonald’s and rebranding vs redesign. Tune in on Spotify or Soundcloud.
